Coldwater MS United Methodist Church has been blessed for many years to have one of the most dynamic music ministries in our area. For a small congregation, the Church is fortunate to have men and women with exceptional musical talents and backgrounds who graciously give of their time and talents for the Glory of God.
The Chancel Choir is at the center of the ministry. Practicing on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 7:30 in Bailey Hall, the Choir presents a powerful and timely anthem each Sunday morning during worship. The Choir's repertoire runs from Gospel classics to classical compositions; from beautiful standard hymns to toe-tapping praise hymns.
The Choir, joined by special friends from surrounding area churches, presents a Christmas Concert each Advent season with both sacred and secular carols and songs. Recent concerts have been "Sing We the Music of Christmas", "Come Sing with the Angels", and "A Night Like No Other". Readings are included during the concerts, and a special time is set aside for the children in attendance to participate in a Christmas story.
During Holy Week the Choir traditionally presents a moving Tenebrae Service depicting through songs, candles, and shadows the events of the week leading up to Easter Sunday.
The Chancel Choir is open to anyone who loves to praise the Lord through song. No tryouts, no auditions - just joyful singing!
Our Men's Quartet (which may have 5 or 6 members sometimes!) is a fun-filled group who are willing to perform at a moment's notice. Composed primarily of men from the Chancel Choir, the Quartet specializes in music with harmonic, rhythmic styling that leaves audiences clamoring for more!
